Worshipful Brother Bob Johnson was born July 3rd, 1938 and was called to
that Spiritual Building, not made with hands eternal in the Heavens on
February 20, 2008 by the Supreme Architect of the Universe.
Bob
joined Masonry and Newport Lodge #118 in 1991 taking his Entered
Apprentice Degree on October 10th, 1991, his Fellow Crafts Degree on
November 21st, 1991 and was raised to the sublime Degree of a Master
Mason on January 18th, 1992.
Bob has
served our lodge ever since joining, starting as Marshal from 1993
through 1996, as Chaplin in 1997, 1998 and again in 2005. WB RJ Watson
appointed WB Bob to the progressive line in 1999 as Junior Deacon. WB
Bob continued though the offices of Senior Deacon in 2000, Junior Warden
in 2001, and Senior Warden in 2002 and was elected by his Brethren to
lead Newport Lodge #118 as Master in 2003. Bob continually severed his
lodge and his brethren, always available and eager to help in anyway
needed. Bob also served as Newport Lodge’s Funeral Chaplin with WB Steve Momsen for many years and was a passionate member of Osman Shrine Mighty
Mites Car Club. In the word of WB Steve Momsen, who presided at Bob’s
Masonic Funeral Service, “Masonry strives to make good men better, but
in Bob’s case, Masonry is better because Bob was a member.” WB Bob’s
Masonic memorial service was attended by approximately 60 Brothers on
Sunday Evening, and 25 or so Brothers attended the Monday morning
funeral and burial. WB Steve Momsen officiated at both of the Masonic
services and WB Tom Gnan played the bag pipes.
